@Thomas if you are going to do them one year after the other, the level 1 is that hard that I would suggest studying for 2 as though you are studying for 1 now. It takes a really concerted and continuous effort. Either way go for it!

@koichi I'm not going to attempt it until I get back to Japan, I want to have more complete base in Kanji, both reading and writing.

@Koichi: I'm not sure if I'm going to take level 1 next year or not. It depends how well I do on level 2 this year, whether I think I have enough time to prepare, and whether I am up for another round of studying for the JLPT. I doubt I'll take it in the summer. Winter, maybe. I'll probably decide next summer.

Well done Thomas, I passed the level 2 test a couple of years ago, but failed the level one test most recently. It was a really good experience, especially since the test is so well broken down into the various sub-skills of language. The only thing they're missing of course is spoken discourse.

Congrats man! Really good. For listening, what I did: just watching heaps of series and the news. The news is one thing that will help you a lot. And I mean just listening hours and hours. But as you live in Japan I don't see any problem.

Good luck with preparing for the real test.

Congratulations!!

I have a plan to take Jlpt 2 level test this year, but I am still not good enough to pass. So I have to test myself. Do you know from where I can get a full set of practice test in internet (free)?
