Koinobori - Japanese Carp Streamers Koinobori - japonês carpa cordas

Today (May 5th) is Children’s Day in Japan, and that means today’s Word of the Day is 鯉幟 ( koinobori ). Hoje (5 de maio) é Dia Mundial da Criança no Japão, e isso significa que a Palavra de hoje é o Dia鲤帜(koinobori). 鯉 (koi) means “carp” and 幟 (nobori) means something like “flag”, so 鯉幟 ( koinobori ) translates into English as “ carp streamer “.鲤(koi) significa "carpa" e帜(nobori) significa algo como "bandeira", de forma鲤帜(koinobori) traduz-se em Inglês como "carpa streamer".
Japanese families (who have boys) put these carp streamers up to celebrate boys. Japonês famílias (que têm meninos) colocar esses carpa cordas preparativos para comemorar os rapazes. My wife and I had a son last year, so we got some. Minha esposa e eu tinha um filho, no ano passado, por isso temos alguns.
At the top of the pole are 矢車 ( yaguruma ). No topo do mastro são矢车(yaguruma). 矢 means “arrow” and 車 means “car” or “wheel”.矢significa "flecha" e车significa "carro" ou "roda". If you look closely, you will see that the wheels are spoked with arrows, hence 矢車. Se você olhar de perto, vai ver que as rodas são falava com setas, e daí矢车. The fletching of the arrow-spokes catches the wind and makes the wheels turn. O fletching da seta-raios capturas o vento e torna as rodas turno.
The koinobori are sold in sets of four. O koinobori são vendidos em grupos de quatro. At the top is a plain old wind sock and beneath it are three carp windsocks. Na parte superior é uma planície velho vento meias e sob ele são três carpas windsocks. The black carp is the father, the red is the mother and the blue one is the boy. A carpa é o pai negro, o vermelho é a mãe e para o azul é a um rapaz. A koinobori set can cost anything from 10,000 yen (US$100) to 60,000 yen (US$600). Not cheap by any means, but you only have to buy them once, you use them year after year, and up close they are actually pretty freaking cool. You hang your koinobori at the beginning of May, and then take them down on June 5th, one month after Children’s Day. I love seeing koinobori around Japan but had no idea that they cost so much! Eu adoro ver koinobori em torno do Japão, mas não tinha idéia de que eles tanto custo! When I lived in Hawaii as a child, we would make carp streamers out of construction paper and yarn for Children’s Day. It was interesting how many Japanese customs we studied in Hawaii, although now that I think about it a large number of my teachers there were Japanese. @thomas: Yes, it was for Japanese Children’s Day. @ Vivi: Sim, era para japonês Dia Mundial da Criança. It was not any official holiday in any sense, but something we did in school. Não era nenhum feriado oficial em qualquer sentido, mas algo que fez na escola. Hawaii was easily the most multi-cultural place I’d ever lived. Havaí era facilmente a mais multi-cultural local que eu alguma vez viveu.
