10 free 1 hour tutoring sessions on eduFire
By Peter on Jul 11, 2008 in Site News
Babelhut was recently named one of the top 21 language bloggers on the web by eduFire. EduFire is a site that matches up language tutors with language students, and that tutoring takes place via video chat on eduFire. I’ve yet to try it out, but I certainly intend to do so. But there’s more than just the video tutoring on eduFire. They have an excellent flashcard section which plays as a multiple choice game that gives you more points the faster that you answer correctly. Some of these flashcards are good to put in your SRS. They also have a resource section with lots of embedded language learning videos.
To celebrate our inclusion in their Top 21, eduFire will give away 1 hour of free tutoring on their site to the first ten people who send an email to freetutoring@edufire.com and mention the giveaway here on Babelhut. So send that email and check out what eduFire has to offer!

Based on the one language pair that I looked at in the flashcard section (German->English), this feature doesn’t seem particularly good to me. There were errors in the German terms, wrong translations and (where given) wrong plural forms. I would not recommend these flashcards to anyone.

I only just recently became obsessed with the edufire flashcards. I use them as part of my Spanish and Portuguese lessons. I’ll have to give the video tutoring a try, as I would like to learn a lot more Portuguese especially. Thanks for pointing this website out!

Hm, interesting site. I might sight up for Dutch and Spanish in the future (some extra money is always welcome, especially as a student :)).
About the flashcard; I’ve checked them out, but it seems that there are only cards with loose words. Anything around for Spanish with whole sentences?

Hm, I might register as a tutor for Dutch and Spanish in the future. Some extra money will come in handy, for sure.
About the flashcards: I’ve tried some, but I’ve only seen cards with loose words. Are there cards with whole sentences as well?
Besides, Thomas: at the blogroll the URL is still the one of my old blog. Could you change it?

@Ramses: I haven’t seen any flashcards with whole sentences but for me my vocabulary is so weak I don’t mind. My SRS has a mix of words and sentences anyway.
I fixed the blogroll URL for you.

Are you still giving away free sessions?

http://www.studentteacherexchange.com is free for both students and teachers. It just formed but when word spreads around it might dent the other two a bit.
